Great Lindows! You said your red NIC now receives its IP by DHCP from your ISP. I did not quite make out what you said about the linux box in your internal network. Did it receive an IP address or not?

Hey Guys,
As i stated before, i finally recieved an ip address from the dhcp server of my isp. 24. blah blah blah, no the issue is my pc that's connected to my green nic doesn't recieve an ip address. i assigned the green nic an ip address of 192.168.0.1 sub net 255.255.255.0, then i enable the dchp from the options menu and enter the start ip as 192.154.0.1 and ended with 192.158.0.254 and then on the primary dns line the the ip address i assigned the green nic was already inputed, so i erased it and typed in the primary and secondary ip address of the dns servers my isp assigned me. then i clicked on "Done" rebooted the machine and pressed enter on the first line of the gui menu. and watched the pc boot up. It said all ethernet ports were ok and said ip was assigned to machine. So i turned on my pc that i want to use to assess the net and i don't get an connection.
Any body know where i went wrong.
Lindows.

Your start and end DHCP range addresses are incompatible with your GREEN subnet. Was it a typo or did you actually select 192.154.0.1 as the start IP and 192.158.0.254 as the end IP? Try 192.168.0.10 - start and 192.168.0.254 - end.

Hey Dalight,
Thank you for all of your help. I finally got the dhcp to function. The only question is that my oragne nic does seem to ssign ip address to my xbox. Or maybe i should put my xbox on the dmz. I think that better. I might have to configure it. Also i down loaded that filter program called squid, since linux is new to be do you know where i can go to learn how to install in on the ip box.
Once again thanks for your time and patience,
Thank you to the makers of The FIreWall.cx Website.
Two Cheers!

Lindows, Squid already comes installed on your IPCOP, or do you mean
SquidGuard
? SquidGuard is a great filtering program that works with Squid. If you want to use SquidGuard, a much easier way is to install
UrlFilter
. It's a fantastic program based on SquidGuard that is made specifically for IPCOP. I use it and can help you to set it up if you wish. When you install UrlFilter, it adds itself to the IPCOP's web interface and can be fully configured via the Web interface.
