I am just totally at a loss here. I am astonished that I've spent so much time troubleshooting a device that was suppose to really help me in the lab environment. This isn't exactly a complicated config and setup ... :(

Unfortunately it happens when you don’t have spare equipment to help narrow down hardware issues. It took a few months before I could obtain another NM-16A card. I actually stopped setting up my lab until I had this card. Now I’m finding out that one of the octal cables I have, has connector #1 bad. I can see incoming traffic over it, but the send, is bad..

I couldn't agree more Regeth. As I build up my lab, I'm hoping to have more spare equipment and cards. But I don't think it will ever be enough.

So you actually had a bad connector on your octal cable ...wow. Now I am starting to wonder if one of the RJ ports on my 2511. I switched them around a bit, but I think I'm going to try them all, as it is a 16 port.

I actually stopped setting up my lab until I had this card.

*sigh* I know this feeling all to well. :(

Regeth thanks again for your help and keeping up on this thread! Very much appreciated mate!!

Cheers,

I just checked all my cables two nights ago. Out of eight routers and eight switches. I am not connecting one of each. So I luck out a bit.. It's taken me about five years to collect all the equipment. So waiting another few months is slightly tolerable. Like you it’s to make my life easier to manage all of the equipment.

Nice!! Eight routers and eight switches!! That is one nice lab you got! What series are those devices? And what exam are you currently studying for? By the sound of it, you have a well prepped lab for CCNP and CCIE.

Also, with all your gear how did you break up the electrical? In other words, how do you have your office spread out. Being that many rooms only have 10 to 15amp breakers installed, with 3 to 4 outlets, it can be difficult to run all your equipment. This includes computers, LCDs and monitors, lights, and the lab equipment. I personally run on two 15amp breakers, one from the room and another with an ext cord to the living room. I would soon like to dedicate 2 20amp breakers for the office.

We might want to start a new thread on this topic. I'm sure many people have interest in this topic. 8)

Cheers mate,

I have decided to try and downgrade the IOS on my AS router as my issue still continues. This issue is now preventing me from moving forward with my labs.

So, I tried to downgrade to IOS version 12.2. Was I successful? NO!

I receive the error, 'not enough space'

I obtained an IOS from Cisco.com with the following specs:
DRAM: 16MB Flash: 16MB
...'not enough space' during load.

I tried another IOS with the following specs:
DRAM: 8MB Flash: 8MB
...'not enough space' during load.

Umm ...am I missing something, shouldn't this work? The router is an AS2511-RJ 16MB/16MB.

frustrated :x
