Ipcop and winscp don't mix...

Hey guys,

I need help. i want to log into my ipcop router to upload some tar files to install addons. Well im facing a couple of problems. It seems when i disconnect from the gui web interface of the router, my internet stops working, so i get network error message. Then when i stay connected , i can't log into the router with the winscp because it tells me another session is open. I know u can't log into the router with winscp while connected through the web interface. i followed the directions and set the port to 222 and scp protocol. I'm confused, my putty will login into the router no problem.

Oh yes, i installed a blue zone on the router and connected it to my beklin11mb access point. I assigned it any ip address and hostname. Now, the question is, how do i get my wireless laptop to access the internet through the access point.

I'm open to all suggetions.

Very strange indeed! I've never come across this before. When you say "disconnect" what do you mean?

1. Does the mere action of shutting down your browser while in the Web GUI cause the internet to stop working?
2. Or does the internet stop working after you've performed certain actions via the Web GUI.
3. Also are you on the latest version (1.4.10)?

WinSCP
I use WinSCP and PuttY all the time with my IPCOPs and I can use WinSCP, PuttY and the Web GUI all at the same time.

Blue Zone
Did you enter the Access Point's IP (or MAC) address using the "Blue Access Administrative Web Page" under the Firewall Menu?

Also what changes have you made to your IPCOP. Have you installed any addons?

Well the problem lies with the winscp, successfully loging into the router, with out me having to disconnect the connection from the GUI web interface. I haven't installed any addons and i have installed all of the updates. I install updates from 1.4.7 update to 1.4.10. Am i missing another update.

With the blue access point, set the assigned ip address and access points mac address. But i still can access the internet through my wireless laptop on the wirelessly.

The putty logs in perfectly, but when i log into the GUi web interface, and then try logining in with winscp, i get this session screen asking for my password for the admin account. I enter the password but nothing happens. When i log out of the router and then try to log in with the winscp, i get network unreachable, and my internet stops working also.

The Only setting i changed was i enable under the proxy menu transparency on the green and blue card.

I've spotted your problem from your last post.

1. Firstly, do not click on the DISCONNECT button on the Web GUI unless you want to terminate your internet connection. When you've finished with the Web GUI, simply shut your browser down.

2. Next, the reason you cannot get WinSCP to work is that you are trying to login with the "admin" user instead of "root" which you probably use with PuttY (which works).

Use the "root" user/password combination instead.

I thought you wanted to access the internet through Blue. What is the problem?

Hey Dalight,

It went to the blue access menu above the firewall menu. i entered the mac address of the belkin access point and i entered the ipaddress i set for the blue interface. then i went to the dhcp menu and enable the blue dhcp from thier. After thats done, i plug the access point into the blue nic and power it up. The nic light does go green, but my laptop see's the blue signal, but no internet is present.

If your Belkin device is a only a wireless access point and not a wireless router (with NAT capabilities), you will need to enter the MAC address of your laptop instead. Note that you only need to enter the MAC address.

BTW, have the problems with the Web GUI and WinSCP been sorted out?
