hello,
try looking it in the registry. first recognize what is the process that's making all your problems and then run a search of that process in the registry deleting all of its traces there. then reboot. also before doing that you might want to do an "msconfig" on your system and check for startup processes not needed by your box. disable the process that should not be running at startup. afterwhich, make a complete scan using the beta version of M$'s anti spyware, adaware, spybot search and destroy, or any type of adware killing software you have then make a reboot.
hope this helps..

Make sure you’re logged in as local admin on the box.
Follow These Steps:
*Set home page to what you want.
• Go to START / RUN then type in “gpedit.msc “(without the quotation marks).
• Go to ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES
• Then WINDOWS COMPONENTS
• Then INTERNET EXPLORER
On the right side you’ll see "Disable changing home page settings".
And set to "Enable". This hopefully should stop the hijacker app.
You might want to check out WebRoot line of products, I have been testing (Spy Sweeper & Windows Washer) them for about a month and so far impressed. There is an option (in Spy Sweeper) to maintain your home page for you.

The best tool I've used for browser hijacks is HijackThis.
You can download it here...

Just be sure to read the instructions.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I was unable to connect to the internet and getting on to the LAN was also a problem.
What i did finally was to clone another laptop on the network. I do not know if this was the best solution but it worked and another problem has surfaced.
The laptop which I cloned can no longer log on to the network except I login as an administrator. Can someone out the help to resolve this.
