My-Searcher Browser Hijack Please Help was created by lan2wan
I have this browser hijacker on a couple of systems on my network and I have tried various ways to get rid of it with no luck. Can someone out there please help me with this.
I have Windows XP OS. I tried to restore the systems to the dates I figure they got infected but the system keeps saying I cannot do a restore. Even Microsoft's trial spyware cannot get rid of it although it knows the hijaker is in the system. Finally. I am unable to browse any websites.
Thanks for your assistance as usual.

#1. Download and install Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and an anti-virus program of your choice(for example Avast)
#2. Update all programs defenitions.
#3. Reboot to "Safe mode w/o networking"
#4. Let all the programs scan(one after the other) and fix any errors they find.
Hope this helps

Hmm, have you tried spybot search & destroy and lavasoft adaware ?
I really suggest you switch from IE to firefox...

eheh I am really ashamed to recommend a microsoft's product.. but I tried "microsoft's antispyware" (google it) in some pretty messed up windows machines in a friend's net cafe and it worked magic

Seriously , i'd be the last person to recommend using a microsoft product , but i had myself faced the browser redirect problem due to which i could not surf , but this new microsoft antispyware product did get rid of it (Surprisingly) .Its very important i believe that after runnning a full scan u immediately reboot ur machine , so that the spyware gets removed fully , otherwise it may regenerate.

I have tried a couple of these.
The Microsoft Anti-spyware reconizes the hijacker but is not able to get rid of it.
I have run the other anti-spyware programs in safe mode and it is still there. I wonder what to do next.
Thank you all.
