S0lo,

Yes, the key written on the machine is supposed to be genuine, but if you changed hardware on the machine, when Windows XP generates a "key" from your computer's hardware, and sends it off to its server to see if the "key" has ever been used, it'll see that the previous key (generated with the older hardware) doesn't match the current key (generated from the newer hardware).

Anyway, share the wealth buddy, where'd you find that patch that disables activation? ;-)

I'm not sure if the hardware has changed, There are 22 machines in this lab and there are other engineers working with me, The most frequent thing that can happen is changing the hard drive (because of a crash) although this happens rarely with this HP model.

I guess the moderators won't be so happy on posting such links. So I'm going to send it private to you.

Thanks for sending.

Nah, changing the hard drive wouldn't change the key.
