Or you can recompile your kernel after patching it.. good luck trying to stuff a 2.6 series kernel into RH9...
Seriously.. RH9 is outdated, not well supported.. etc..
just upgrade, get yourself SuSE 9.1, you'll get the spanking 2.6 series kernel (which you cannot live without after you see how much snappier than 2.4 it is).. and you'll get all the latest apps etc..
I really suggest if you're new to linux you get the new knoppix 3.6, and do the hdd-install.. its very very easy to use, and damn powerful...
