Mew,
I surely do remember you sending me those screen shots which I've still got tucked away in a safe place
I must though give out most of the credits to my team as they are one of the main reasons we have this wonderful community working together solving problems and engaging in healthy discussions.
On the other hand we always thank our members who actively select to promote our site by referring people to it, so they too can benefit from our site. This means a lot to us, and is the best possible advertising for us - a reason why a portion of this site's success is owed to our members!
Without our members and the Firewall.cx team, these pages would be nothing else but a few useless bits and bytes

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I actually agree with jwj it's me that I challenge to make sure what I post is correct. I'm also here to learn. No one can be a master of it all though I have met a few that come close.
Anyway Arani with classful routing protocols you can subnet only once without taking the risk of creating some very interesting routing problems. All the networks in the area have to agree on this subnet. That includes the WAN connections that need only two usable IP's. To use a subnet mask with any less that 30 1's (/30 or 255.255.255.252) is a waste.
Also, with LAN's of different sizes you have to subnet allowing for the largest LAN. This too is wastful in that you now have many unused IP's.
Private addresses, NAT, CIDR, and VLSM are all part of the changes made. While private addresses and NAT can be used with Classful routing CIDR and VLSM cannot.
I've seen Chris post that subnetting is something he really gets into. I don't know how much credit goes to just him or to the others on his team but the subject is really well covered on this site.

Now, thats why we call this site awesome, i feel like dancing right now just because of the feeling that i get on thinking that i have so many knowldgeable guys around.
Sorry, but i could not post earlier because i was not here, but now that i am back, i read the complete thing atleast 4 times & really appreciate all the replies on this topic which made me realize that i have still to go a long distance in knowing subnetting completely.
Well, now that i know that i have incorrent understanding of a concept, i think i will have to sit & correct my understanding or i am looking forward to a lot of sleep-less nights.
Well, as far as "Classfull-Subnetting" is concerned, that word still does not makes any sense to me, but i would certainly want it to make sense to me as it does to you
And in that direction i would appreciate if any of you have any other resources for me to study apart from the subnetting portion on this website, which i have already gone through thrice but i guess because of that pre-concieved notion is not letting me understand the same.
Once again thanks to all of you who made me understand that there is a lot more that i have to learn in subnetting, in a polite way
Now am i getting tired of saying this again & again, Three cheers to www.firewall.cx & the people who make it possible

I think most people have trouble with subnetting at first..I know I did,I'm doing ccna sem 4 and I just know my weakness with access lists is going to catch up with me..like a ghost from the past..gotta say this is a terrific forum
