VLAN Routing

Hi Guys,

How can I connect/communicate two vlans in the same switch? I have configured VTP server (3560) and 2 client switch (2960).

Ideas are all welcome. Thanks a lot.

You need a router or layer 3 switch to be able to allow communication between VLANs. As far as I know, the 3560 switch is a layer 3 switch. So you don't need an extra router to do it

Briefly, you have to first enable routing by using the ip routing command. Then define VLAN interfaces and IPs/masks on them (These are virtual interfaces). Full details are here: www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk815/tec...186a008019e74e.shtml

Hi Solo,

I have tried your suggestion and follow the link but it seems that the PC in different VLANs cannot see each other (ping).

I dont know what I am missing in configuration but I think there might be problem in trunking of switches??? It is my first time to use a VTP.

Make sure the windows firewall (Or any other firewall) is turn OFF on the PC your are pinging (the remote PC). Or configure the firewall to allow ping.

If that doesn't work, it might help us to see your configs with a brief description of how things are connected.
