Thanks , I found it actually - just didn't see it when I first came to the site.
Which is better to set the user to point to ipcop proxy or using transparent proxy - since setting will it manually I have to do it to all PC in my school as well as the students notebook.
Does allowing the https to be open ok ?

The most reliable method is to set the proxy on the client's machines or instruct them to do it themselves if they want internet access.
If you don't want to do that you could use the transparent proxy option as you said and open up port 443 (https).
You could also use the Web Proxy Autodiscovery Protocol(WPAD) which enables clients to "autodiscover" the proxy details, but this will need them to set their browsers to "Auto-detect" mode, so you'll have the same problem as with the first option.
