But the problem with DIA is cannot using Visio Stencil & opening *.VSD file. If all the thing can be done , DIA is the best option for me.

Does anyone know if there is any official standards/recommendations for network documentation? Not only for Visio-style drawings, but even simple Word doc style. Or what is best practice to document or the format the documentation should be in.
I know all the obvious stuff to document; however, it would be nice if all administrators had it in a similiar format.
