This might give you some direction. I managed to configure a Cable modem with a static IP and using NAT.

Thanks Gentelmen, it appears the problem was that I was using a standard access list, when I should have been using an extended access list. I altered my original configuration, and it works just fine. The last two suggestions helped. I found my mistake at:

I love when older posts help people. I have found the exact issues described on various forums, but more often than not the resolution is never posted. Heck, sometimes the thread just dies in the middle of a discussion.

I'm glad you found your answer Kenjo56! I will be looking into access lists in-depth soon. These guys can be pretty tricky.

Glad it worked for you. Although I'm really not sure why NAT didn't work with a standard ACL and worked with an extended ACL :? Both should work!!. I've done it before using a standard ACL and Cisco says it can be done here:

Unless you meant a different ACL or I'm missing some thing here.
