2621 Terminal Server trouble shooting

2621 Terminal Server trouble shooting was created by Regeth
Hello, I need some help. I'm trying to configure a Cisco 2621 router with a NM-16 Async card. I have attached both sets of Octal cables to it. I plug them into my 2524 routers and I get a good statis light. The router comes back saying it opened the connection but doesn't respond any farther. I have this as my line configureations.
Line 33-48
exec-timeout 1 0
transport input all
stopbits 1
flowcontrol hardware
I do have my loopback configured, but it doesn't go beyond this.
Terminal_server#10.10.10.1 2033
Trying 10.10.10.1, 2033 ... Open
then nothing. I can get back to the router and close the connection. Am I missing something?

Regeth,
The basic configuration for the tty line(s) is similar to what you've provided. We used the following configuration for our 2511 controlling all Cisco Lab equipment and it worked fine:
[code:1]
line 1
location Line No.1
exec-timeout 20 0
logout-warning 30
no exec
transport input telnet
line 2
location Line No.2
exec-timeout 20 0
logout-warning 30
no exec
transport input telnet
.......
[/code:1]
However, we needed to telnet to ports 2001 (tty1) to 2016 (tty 16).
Can you try similar ports to see if you get any different response ?
Personal, I haven't worked with the NM-16 card, however I don't believe it would be much different from the standard configuration.
I'd also recommend you check the following Cisco link that deals with the configuration of your card:
www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_4/interf...n/guide/hnm16as.html
Hope that helps, let us know of your results.
Cheers mate,

I have configured NM-32A cards before on newer 2811's using exact configuration lines. I've posted this issue on the Cisco's Netpro fourm and I am trading e-mails with the company I bought it from off of e-bay. So far my configs should be fine. I've even gotten my Aux port to allow me to reverse telnet out of it. I'm really thinking its the card, I've tried two sets of cables. One of which is brand new.

As I was reading through your last post, I thought the same thing ... it sounds like a card issue.
Has the ebay company verified that it was in working condition ? They should offer some type of replacement - they usually do.

Well, funny that you say that. I found that the serial number listed in the auction is different than the card I have. I spent a few hours lastnight trading e-mails and show statements back and fourth. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
While looking at the auction, they listed the show diag slot 1, and it had alot more info on the epprom than what my router was giving me. He claims its because of a difference in the 3640 he uses and my 2621. I'll verify that here in a little bit. I'm waiting on another e-bay auction for the same model 3640.

Just wanted to post an update. I just got a new NM-16A card from another seller on ebay, but this one is from New Jersey. Well, the issue I had was with the card and not the configuration. Now I can continue to setup my lab.
