hi,
try recrimping the cables using the appropriate color code. you can use the procedure laid out in the firewall.cx networking section where details are given about every sort of colour coding.
cheers

i tried crimping again but it did not work.... i used the color codes but still did not work.

n.b

the cyber cafe was poorly wired the engineer used A and B wires. which was not suppose 2 be the case. could it be a cause.

according to firewall.cx we are advised not to mix wires do u think that ccould be the cause.....

yes that could be the cause. as suggested, you are not supposed to mix up the wiring, as the pin outs specifically corresponding to data and other channels which is critical for data transfer over that cable.

If you are concerned about the wiring, I'd suggest investing a little in a simple cable tester. They are pretty affordable for a basic wire mapper. At the very least it'll show if you have crosses or shorts in your terminations.
