DHCP Issue

DHCP Client service stops suddenly on Windows Server 2003 (client machine).
I have changed the Network cable, still not able to access the server get the IP address. Unable to start the service.
Its working when I assigned Static IP Address.

Please help me.

check services under your client server and make sure the DHCP service is running by default.

DHCP client service is running default. Actually it was working fine.

Suddenly the service is stopped. While I try to start the service, getting the error "Access is denied".

Service Logon account is Network Service.

i think you might need to reinstall the DHCP serivces on to the server machine. follow this link support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323416 which will tell you how to install it, and then also give special attention to the section that talks about DHCP NOT WORKING/UNAVAILABLE. let us know how it all went

This a client machine under the domain (running SBS 2003 Server).

Only this machine alone not getting the IP from DHCP. With static its working ok.

Strange problem ... We need to determine whether the problem lies with the DHCP client on the W2K3 server or on the SBS 2003 server where possible problems could be a corrupted DHCP lease database or conflicts between static IPs and the DHCP scope.

Make sure that the DHCP Server service on W2K3 server is disabled. You could try hooking up the W2K3 server to a NAT router to see if it is able to acquire an IP by DHCP. If you confirm that this works OK, you may need to look at the DHCP database on the SBS 2003 server.
