user can't log onto domain, domain admin can not log onto do

We configured a XP Pro laptop for a user. The user's profile could not not log on to the network/domain, nor could logging on to the laptop, user: administratorr/password work on the domain. On above XP laptop, we removed the user from the domain and selected work group > restarted the computer > removed from work group > selected domain then user was able to access the domain. The above seems to be the procedure every time the user wants to log on to the domain. Any advise/suggestions would be appreciated?

The physical machine and the computer account in AD share a password. The password is auto-changed every 30 days. When a computer isn't connected to the domain in thirty days, the password can't be changed, so the computer account auto-disables in AD.
Is this happening more frequently than 30 days?

It is a new laptop, maybe 10 days old. We could not log onto the domain with the domain administrator password. Only can log in as local administrator.

What exactly is the error that you get (or the user gets) when you try to logon to the domain no the laptop?
Another thing you can try is manually creating the computer account in AD PRIOR TO joining the laptop to the domain.
