Sorry for the delay in responding. Been rather busy of late. :)

I tested the connection using XP's RDC at a workstation local to the server. The connection did not drop, even when left inactive for 30-45 minutes. Clearly placing our problem with the routers and gateways between the offices.

Currently we are not running a VPN on the Sonicwalls in place. We were thinking of implementing same, but haven't done anything towards that goal.

I haven't had the chance to test your ideas, stefke, concerning alternate means of connection other than Terminal Services. As soon as I get that chance, I will do so, and post what I find here.

It would seem there are several settings in the Sonicwalls I did not consider. I will research these, thanks for the ideas.

Your test with the local RDP session confirms that it's probably a problem in you WAN path. Let us know what pops up.

Found it. A setting in the Sonicwall drops connections to ports after 5 minutes (adjustable of course) of inactivity.

Man, I feel dumb now.

Thanks for the ideas, guys.

Don't feel bad, it's a daily occurrence with me ... and thanks for letting us know the exact problem. It's bound to help someone in future.
