Hi,I'm running windows server 2003 standard edition,I recently installed some software which made my computer not too well,I would like to know if there is something similar to winxp system restore so I can restore my server 2003.

No, System Restore is not an advertised feature of Windows 2003 in the same way as in XP. You are best advised to use Standard Backup and Restore procedures. i.e. do at least a System State backup before major changes and then you can perform a restore afterwards if anything goes wrong.

There is however a way of enabling System Restore in 2003, but it should really only be used if you're not using 2003 as a production server. Check out this URL ( www.msfn.org/win2k3/sysrestore.htm ). Unfortunately it won't help in this instance but may help in future after enabling System Restore.

Yup, SYS Restore is only found in Windows XP i believe

Nice article DaLight ... certainly a good help ....

however when we talk about the by default option in win 2k3 server there is no option for system restore .... so follow the article given by DaLight and that's the best future help that can be provided

Yep, agree with Dalight on this one. Basically the system restore under XP saves your registry contents plus other critical configuration bits. Best way to achieve the equivalent in 2003 is a good backup including the system state information
