This one stinks. I built a W2000 server and stuck in an HP SureStore DAT drive that we had lying around. The drive is recognised and checks out ok but refuses to do anything with the tapes - the symptoms are explained in MS Knowlegebase article 269600. The fix described there is to upgrade to the latest service pack, the problem is fixed in SP2 and later. Unfortunately my server is already at SP4. Or there's a workaround to use the /maxmem switch to reduce the amount of memory available to the server. I don't really want to do that!
Anybody else seen this problem and managed to fix it by any other means than hurling the server through the nearest window?

Have you tried updating the Firmware? This might help the situation.
