W2K Domain account's locking out every day! was created by jacko0
Ok, let me just give you some background info on the problem.
There are 2 users on a windows 2000 domain they both have a pc and account.
They also both map a drive to a diffrent domain using an account from the other domain.
The problem is that EVERYDAY their account from the first domain is locked out. I reset it and the next day its locked out again.
But for reasons I wont go into now, we can't set up a "Trust" between the domains as I think that would cure the problem :x
So how can I stop their accounts from locking out everyday without setting up a trust?
Any help world be great.
Jacko

If you check the security event logs on the domain controller you should be able to see when (at what time) the accounts get locked. That might give you a further clue as to whether you're following the right lines of enquiry or not.
As to other possibilities, I've seen repeated account lockouts where users are logged in on multiple machines and the password gets changed. I've also seen it happen when a machine is locked and the password gets changed

I have checked the event viewer on both pc's and the following is happening before the lockout
Event id 1000
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. return value (1326)
Found this
support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329708
But still not sure.. Because why would both computer account's (which are the only 2 that map drives to a different domain) be corrupted at the same time? When all other computer accounts on the domain are ok!
