Hiding files in win98 was created by ping
Some times ago i went to a cybercafe and was amazed to see that they were hiding the files but i couldnot find the folder options menu from which we can unhide the files.
Now i discribe in detail :
The cafe was using win 98SE, in this we can generally found folder option manu under view>>folder options.
But here when i went to view menu i couldn't find folder options instead i found a java console clicking it opens java console.
Now my question is that suppose i want to impliment this thing at home how can i do it ?
if you are still not clear wiht my question please ask me so that i can clerify more >

Ping --
Grab your Win98 CD and follow this path:
[CD]:\tools\reskit\netadmin\poledit
Execute poledit.exe (stands for Policy Editor), that should do it, might want to just install the full ResKit and play with it.
Good Luck,

Try using the attrib command from a command prompt
I think its attrib +a <filename>

sahirh is right, windows -or more properly Explorer as the windows shell- by default are configured to hide files with certain attributes. It's just an option somewhere.. "show hidden files" (files with +h attribute I think) and "show/hide protected system files" (files with +s attribute)..
As sahirh said, you can modify them with "attrib" command which happens to be a command line program, but that doesn't matter
