Hiding files in win98

Hiding files in win98 was created by ping
Some times ago i went to a cybercafe and was amazed to see that they were hiding the files but i couldnot find the folder options menu from which we can unhide the files.

Now i discribe in detail :

The cafe was using win 98SE, in this we can generally found folder option manu under view>>folder options.

But here when i went to view menu i couldn't find folder options instead i found a java console clicking it opens java console.

Now my question is that suppose i want to impliment this thing at home how can i do it ?

if you are still not clear wiht my question please ask me so that i can clerify more >

Grab your Win98 CD and follow this path:

[CD]:\tools\reskit\netadmin\poledit

Execute poledit.exe (stands for Policy Editor), that should do it, might want to just install the full ResKit and play with it.

Try using the attrib command from a command prompt

I think its attrib +a <filename>

acutally it's dos trick to hide and then show file and chagne their attributes. i don't think that will work.

sahirh is right, windows -or more properly Explorer as the windows shell- by default are configured to hide files with certain attributes. It's just an option somewhere.. "show hidden files" (files with +h attribute I think) and "show/hide protected system files" (files with +s attribute)..

As sahirh said, you can modify them with "attrib" command which happens to be a command line program, but that doesn't matter :)
