Error Code 31 in Device Manager

Error Code 31 in Device Manager was created by Stephanie
I have an IBM Netvista (Windows 2000 current on SP's and updates) that will not recognize a USB floppy drive (TEAC Corp.). I have checked MS HCL and it is approved and on the list, but I get an error in the Device Manager stating "error code 31 on the floppy drive" and Microsofts knowledge base tells me this means another dependant driver has failed to load, but it gives no indication as to which one. Any idea where I should look first? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look for *CM_PROB_FAILED_ADD*. It gives you the Cause and Troubleshooting.
If it doesn't solve your problem, let us know. Make sure you backup your registry.

Thank you for the link, that fixed the problem! I removed a reg entry regarding the UpperFilters for the floppy and it's working fine.
