Hey guys.. Just a quick one..
Working on my MCSE and of course going over default shares on w2k3...
I understand them all except for IPC$.
From what I gather this stands for Interprocess Communication. It is basically used for communication between the computer and the applications?
This is where I get lost.. Why would the PC and the app need to communicate using the share? ZWhen they say computer maybe the mean client computer on the network accessing a server based app?
Thanks in advance for hte help guys.

The IPC$ share allows applications to communicate with another system over the network.. for example to list shares, files, etc...
It allows operation of remote procedure calls... and in the NT world it provides what are known as 'named pipes'
throw some of those words in google for more info..
