Hi All,

Would any one know how to configure windows to send syslog messages? is it possible for windows to send syslog messages as routers, firewall does.

Also could oracle & sql databases send syslog messages.

Please let me know

Thanks

Greetings

Yes, it is possible.

check these:
www.winsyslog.com/Common/en/Articles/eve...g-stunnel-syslog.php
www.aplawrence.com/Reviews/NTSyslog.html
www.intersectalliance.com/projects/BackLogNT

A search in google for [windows + service_name + remote + syslog] will yield even more results :)

If you encounter any problem with the implementation, please let us know ;)

Truth is I don't know of any database server that has intergrated the feature of forwarding his logs to remote servers. Of course if forwarding to the local logging facility of windows i.e. was supported, you could then sent them to a syslogd. But about oracle, I am pretty sure the massive "redo log files" can not be handled by an external log facility. I think that mssql also does not support passing logs to external facility as it comes with it's own comprehensive auditing tools.

Perhaps someone else here knows from first-hand :)
