Windows 2000 & XP - Sharing and Security

I made some changes to my WinXP Pro security settings that has denied me access to my account. Windows created a new account, and of course, it is as if I just created a new user account for myself. My old account is still listed under 'Document and Settings', and I can open it, but only access the already shared files within. I have attempted to use XP restore, but this did not restore my previous security settings. I have made dozens of changes since trying to restore my account without success. The primary changes were related to the Everyone and Users accounts as I was attempting to deny access to any of my files to everyone (re: children) BUT me. I am unclear about inheritences for starters. I you can assist me, it would be welcomed.

I assume from your explanation and questions that the changes you have made are to do with file and/or folder permissions? If so, the reason you can't access the files now are because you've denied yourself the permission to do so. That being the case, if you can log in to the PC itself (not the domain) as the local Administrator then chances are you'll be able to retrieve your files. If you don't have access to the local Admin account, then perhaps the best thing would be to go and plead with someone who does, and have them rescue you. If that is not possible, give us as much detail as you can and we'll try to help
