Hibernation

My box Turtle in in Hibernation what do i need to do to insure his survival? he's a three toed box Turtle, we found him in our yard and nursed him back to health but now winter is approaching, and in Nor Cal we get cold rainy winters, he buried himself kinda under a bush but not very covered, and all we've feed him is snails, is he going to make it in hibernation, or should i bring him inside, and if so, how do i prepare a space for him?
