Net send alternative in Vista? was created by Samulelynn
I need to send a popup alert to some admin pc's. Some of them are running Vista that doesn't support "Net Send" (thanks MS). A suggested alternative is to use msg (though you have to make a regedit on a vista box) but thats not directly available as an Alert action (feature request for Orion V9.5?). Has anyone constructed a batch file or vb script to do this or have an alternative work round?

If you've moved on to Vista and go looking for the Net Send command, you aren't going to find it. This is because the command has been replaced with MSG.EXE. To launch the command: click on the Start button, type CMD in the search box and press Enter. The Command Prompt window will appear where you can send a message using MSG.EXE. For additional information about MSG.EXE, type msg /? at the command prompt and press Enter.Use a specified LAN messenger maybe an ideal alternative solution.
