It strikes me that Vista was released far too early, before the problems had been sorted.
As a matter of interest, I read elsewhere about someone who had used Vista since just after it's initial release. He applied SP1 and it asked him to activate the software. Needless to say, he'd already done that and couldn't again, whether he tried over the internet or by calling the activation telephone number. He's screwed because he can't get at his data (via Vista, even though he can use alternative methods).
It'll be at least a year before I delve into Vista!
