Can't remove networked printes.

Here is the situation:

I use Group Policy on a Windows 2003 Server to push my printers to workstations. These policies are applied based on the computer settings - not the user.

I have one computer that is not in a OU with a GPO applied to it that contains one of these printers; however, this computer was previously named something else and most likely was simply yanked out of the domain and renamed. I would assume this has the same SID, but I do not know if this has anything to do with it.

I have removed and rejoined the computer to the domain (several times). I have renamed the PC. I have removed and rejoined the new computer that replaced this computer to the domain. I have manually deleted the computer in Active Directoy and recreated it manually.

I ran a gpresult -v and the computer does not show as being in an OU with any printers applied to it.

Any suggestions?

Is the printer showing up as a networked printer (user account) or Machine ?

Have you tried removing the user profile ?

Just a few thoughts

I have not tried removing the user account; however, the printers appear even if I login with admin...so I think this means that the printers are installed per machine.

Then printers are added as such: Printer 1 on SERVERNAME

Hmm, if you log in as local administrator that it would probably be installed as a local printer.

So you say that when you delete it the printer will re-appear at the next login ?

Yes. Most of the time they appear before a logoff/logon.

I am using the new GP extensions of Server 2003 R2 method in which I publish the printer via Group Policy and the pushprinters.exe file.
