To disable USB Drive was created by prabhuk
Dear all,

I have already disabled usb drives in my Offices by using Group Policy. Now I have introuced some new PCs in to the domain. now the Problem is that new PCs have Five USB ports. I connected the mouse and keyboard in two usb ports( there is no PS/2 connector). If I add a new PC in to Group Policy , the key board and mouse will not work.......... So Please give me sugesstions to disable three usb ports out of Five.

thank you.

I think there is a service called plug and play you can try to disable it so that it won't detect usb drives as they are p&p devices.

Correct me if i am mistaken
Cheers..:D

If the BIOS has the feature, then you can disable the USB ports from the BIOS. As far as specifying which ports out of the five you want disabled, that would depend on the BIOS. The BIOS on my computer allows 2, 4, or 6 USB ports. I tell it how many I want and then I test which ones work and which ones don't.

I don't recommend disabling the Plug and Play service, it may introduce side effects in the future if you try to upgrade/replace a device in the computer since almost all devices nowadays are PnP.
