iso image? was created by monsky
what software and procedure could i be able to use to create an image of a whole system so that when it bogged down i could restore it immediately without reinstalling everything all over again?

For disk imaging is Symantec Ghost

Nice link, Smurf. Even though Ghost is usually seen as the tool of choice for this kind of task especially in enterprise environments, I've heard a lot of good things about Acronis.Here is a review of some

You can use the FDISK command to mirror an imgage of the hard disk instead of a third party utility
