"MCSCAN 32 engine initialisation failed was created by rickardo
...........the DAT files failed or are missing"..this is the error log I get since having a few probs the other day..after trying to restore the system ..now I cant access outlook 2003,I cant restore the pc before the day of the problems,and I cant open word files or media player...I can open jpg's and connect to the internet,,any help would(once again)be well appreciated..cheers rick

Hi fella, when does this error occur ? Is it straight away on book or is it when you try to run Outlook or Word ? Can you tried a repair of MS Office ?

Hi,,thanks for those suggestions,but I'm in a certain amount of grief ..all I am left with on my pc are the programs I installed after the disaster(in add/remove progs)sys restore wont go back beyond this..all my applications in office etc gone!!!what I have at the moment is a pc running mcaffe and broadband..is this a restore disc job??cheers peeps rick

Hi there,
I would say its probably wise to do a total system rebuild. It would probably be quicker and safer as you don't know how much hassel its going to cause you in the future should anything be partly installed or drivers/install files corrupt due to the different restores, etc....
I would also take a look through this thread which i have described how to Image a machine to ensure a quick return (within around 10/15 mins usually).
