SSL in Imail 8.2 and outlook 2003 was created by psiclonius
Hey everyone,
I have what I hope to be an easy question on SSL and Imail8.2.
E-mails are going to the mail server with user names and passwords. I would like to be able to hide this information from
sniffer software. I contacted ipswitch who told me that SSL would be the way to approach the issue. I have enabled dedicated SSL listener (default port #) for both pop3 and SMTP in Imail. I also created a new SSL cert. I go to Outlook and Email Accts --> More setting and Advanced and select SSL for pop3 and smtp. When I do a test message the errors I'm getting are:
Send test e-mail: the specified server ws not found... Please verify the port and SSL information is correct
...and
Find incoming mail server (pop3): outlook could not connect to the incoming mail serfer (pop3). The problem could be the server name or port, or your server may not support SSL.
When I disable the setting in outlook everything works. Again my main focus is to remove user names and passwords from going in clear text.
