Too Many Admistrator was created by Lindows
Hey Guys,

On my companies network, we hired a guy to bring back up the network from a crash. As a result, the only way he told us he can keep the software on the server and workstation pc running, is by giving all the accounts admin priviledge. I would like to know is it away to give the workstation pc running windows 2000 and xp limited access to network resources. For example prevent workstation users from accessing server files and folders like my documetns, C drive, and the start up button.

If you need more info let me know.

Lindows if the server running with with ADS then you can apply all the restriction whatever you want to apply to the workstation users with the help of Active Directory Group Policy.

From your post what I understood is, You wanna give admin rights to all the users in the workstation but they should not have the rights to access the network drive/folder whatever. If it is correct you may use the following way.

#1 Give the local admin rights to each user on the respective systems but in ADS keep the user as normal user and apply all the rights what ever u want.

#2 Now give the Full rights to that Network folder / drive to the Domin Administrator and if any of the other users you want to access.

#3 Remove Everyone rights to that folder / Drive.

#4 Now only those users (Domain admin and if any permitted) only can access the folder / drive as well as the local user may have the administrator rights on their system.

Hope it will helps you. If not please let me know.

Hi,
While promting your Server as Domain Controller / Installing the AD be ensure that its installing on mixed mode. So that you can add any client system into that AD.
