EFS Data Recovery Agent was created by FallenZer0
Hello All,
The intention of the below work was to see how Data Recovery of EFS Files work on a Stand-Alone Windows XPP.
I've created a Data Recovery Agent [lets call it DRA1] which is a Member of the Administrators Group.
Using a 2nd account [lets call it account2] which is also a Member of the Administrators Group, a .CER [contains ONLY the Recovery Certificate] and .PFX [contains the Recovery Certificate and the Password Protected Private Key] Files were created.
Then I Logged On using the DRA1 Account to Import the .PFX for File Recovery and stored it in my Personal Certificate Store.
I then Logged On using the account2 to Add the Data Recovery Agent. In the wizard, when I click on the Browse, I'm NOT able to select DRA1 as the Recovery Agent. The only thing I was able to do is to select the .CER which was created under the account2 credentials and then wizard display the Recovery Agent as USER_UNKNOWN.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
