My windows explorer keeps crashing! Help please... was created by savchatzip
Hi everyone...
I have Windows XP SP2 Professional installed on my machine. For the last month windows explorer keeps crashing whenever i browse my hard drives. (mainly it happens to one of them)
I did try to use the hard drives on other machines and they seemed to work fine.
When the report window appears once it has crashed, I can move it to the side and use the explorer for a while until the second crash of this dr Watson windows component. At that point the OS becomes useless untill I kill the process of Dr. Watson from the task manager.
Is there anyone that can help me please...
thank you!

hi savchatzip,
first thing that you should do is to narrow down your problem to the culprit. if your system keeps on crashing you can perform several procedures to be able to determine what's causing the crash; these includes:
1. virus/trojan infection
2. spyware/malware
3. Software (installed applications)
4. Software (OS)
5. Hardware (bad HDD)
you may want to check first if your system is clean from viruses/trojans/spyware/malwares by either scanning it with your preferred applications or manual scanning it.
also, you may want to check your system for any installed applications that may be causing the crash. try by referencing it with the last application that was installed and try to revert back the system to the state where it was functioning properly prior to the installed apps.
check also the OS itself for any patches or updates that are necessary to fix bugs within it. you can try and repair WinXP by using the CD installer and doing a repair installation.
lastly you may want to check your hard-drive for any possible hardware malfunction. do system checks and tests.
hope this helps.
