I've downloaded the Ram test tool lets just hope I don't have to use it.
I still say make your rescue disks.. though I never used recovery console off the cd to recover anything yet.
The nice thing is that there are still very few unrecoverable OS problems.. even for M$, you can 9/10 get things back to some state of normalcy without resorting to a reinstall.
Cheers,

I agree with Sahirh on the boot disks and rescue disks.
I takes almost no time to create them and disks cost relatively nothing. Saying that they are rubbish is like say car insurance is rubbish - until you absolutely need them and find you don't have them.

Hey Manip,
I tried your Memory (Ram) test program and it worked great.
I have been building a new machine and had problems with it periodically hanging and couldn't figure out why, so I downloaded the program you mentioned and my memory failed 2 of the tests. Went and got some new memory and it is working fine now.
Going to definately keep this in my arsenal.

Hey guys,
thanks for your replies. I've tried the following RAM testers:
- Windows Memory Diagnostic:
oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
- Memtest86
www.memtest86.com
- DocMemory
www.simmtester.com
None of them showed any errors when I used them. However both memory modules with the ones from another computer and it worked perfectly with Windows XP. After that I ran the burn-in tester (great tool!) Chris mentioned and my machine passed all tests.
