Hi guys,
i have a gateway essentail pc with 500MHz and 128Mb running Mandrake 10.1. I need help on activating my wireless card to pic up internet access from my accesspoint upstairs. Any thing suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The first half part of the job is to find out the details of your wireless card and locate the drivers if they exist. Since this is a usb device, you can try checking the output of "dmesg" right after you plug the device in. Once you determine the hardware details, visit the support web site of the manufacturer to see if there are any official drivers for it. If not, googling for "linux+[your_wifi_model]" will most likely yield some useful results about the linux support status for your card and any unofficial drivers project (a good place to check is also the
compatibility list
of
linux-wlan project
). Specific installation instructions should be provided along with the driver -also take a look at the
Linux & Wireless HOWTO
