hi,
I want to install linux in my home PC which now run on windows xp!
where can i download a linux installation? and can it cause problems with programs that can not be run on the new linux?!
are there sites that help to install linux?

Well your best bet would prolly be Knoppix as it loads from the CD rather than you having to partition your hard drive between WinXP and Linux. That is a good way to start if you just want a taste before you start messing with your hard drive.
Check out www.linuxiso.org for most of the distros out there and check out their respected home pages and forums for installation questions. That is the easiest way.
