Hi,
Well i want to know what do U think about FC2 ?
is it stable ? i mean i found it as if they want to make a desktop OS
not a server OS with all the graphics and fonts
i wonder if 3 years from now i'll find someone using Command line
they are heading to GUIs the Microsoft way .

hi,
well FC2 is just fine considering that it is a breed of the RH family. i have managed to make it as our web-based email server and so far it has proved its power that since the day i put it up, i never made a restart on it  ...
as far as the command line is concern i still do my administration of the server thru the CLI either on the Server itself or using putty as my interface..either way i still believe that the nothing can surpass the command line when it comes to administration and configuration of linux boxes..it proves to be very effective and efficient and at the same time both enlightening and challenging to do stuffs at the command line.

Fedora is not bad IMO... I mean just about any full Linux distribution could be used for some sort of server role -- thats the power of the kernel.
There's actually nothing wrong with a GUI approach -- I'm a CLI maniac myself, but there are some things that are done better (or only) in a GUI -- like graphics work -- word processing, or similar...
However they must always make sure that the power of the CLI and the underlying UNIX roots remain..
Operating systems must always evolve or they must die -- thats whats happening to Windows now.
BTW you might want to look at Redhat Enterprise Linux.
Cheers,

what are the major differences versus RH 9.0 ?
I know it's not free but i wonder if there's a evaluation version like windows server product, so i can use
