netbsd and usb flash drives

I just managed to get my hands on an old toshiba laptop and considering the beast wont run many of the bloated *nix variants I decided to slap netbsd on it, but knowing that Im limited by a very small HDD and the fact Im using all the pcmcia slots for memory and a NIC all I have is one lone USB port and I was wondering if anyone here has fared well with netbsd being able to read and mount usb flash drives

I have read this: www.netbsd.org/Hardware/usb.html FAQ on the site and Im not sure if a flash drive could be considered a mass storage device and was just curious to hear from the firewall community if there has been any previous luck with it :-D

Yes almost certainly it will be identified fine as a generic usb storage device and it will be available as a scsi device (sdx#) via scsi emulation.

ohhh that is some REALLY good news... I didnt know what the hell I could do with a 2 gig HDD w/o the money to get a new HDD installed in the laptop(I dont have the proper experience or tools to do it myself) Anyways nske, is there anything I need to do to prepare the usb device before Im able to rwx applications on it? Ive only used flash drives in windows before and.. well.. you just kinda plug it in and it seems it's NEVER that easy in *nix hahaha

Ideally, there's nothing extra you need to do. As long as the kernel supports it, once you plug the usb device inside it should be detected (check with "dmesg" for the message) and you should be able to do anything you would do with any block device (partition, format, mount, etc).
