Debian server

Hi,can someone help me:
1-Am configuring a proxy server using debian linux.My internal card eth0 with an add of 192.168.5.1 was connected to a switch in a LAN.All windows client where given an add off 192.168.5.x but they cant see the server and the server cant see the pcs on the LAN.
2-My server cant see the new network card (eth1) and cant load the driver of the card.
