Linux Hd instsall PIII

I got a PIII 550Mhz, 64Mb ram and about 3 - 4 GB hdd partition to spare. Which distro should i install.
I liked knoppix, will do it for now ... maybe switch to kanotix soon.
Is there any better?

I really enjoy the Fedora distro for some reason, but without the gui interface as I always use the operating system on server-centric installations.

Suse is also very popular here in Greece due to its welcoming GUI. Anyone else that would like to share their experiences with a Linux distro ?

You know.. i'm from the windows world...
BUT I hate anything beyond win98SE (thats what i use)

Knoppix is by far the simplest distro i've used (among Rh7.1 and DSL)

If there is something that can equal knoppix please tell me, considering 64Mb ram and a 3Gb hdd...

Edit : destroying Knoppix, tryin Ubuntu and then Vector Linux (cause they dont have large downloads). Tell me which is better...

i am also a newbie to linux, now i have fedora core 4 as my proxy and content filtering, and ubuntu as my workstation. ubuntu is doin fine as far as with my needs, so try also ubuntu.

I've used Ubuntu Hoary Hedgehog live : NOT IMPRESSIVE.

then i thought i should try hdd-install.

IT TOOK AGES FOR THE INSTALL TO COMPLETE (IT NEVER DID). I finally got tired and deleted the partition.

I've never had a problem with installing Hoary, I've done it several times. Not sure what there isn't to like about Ubuntu as a desktop distro, unless you don't like Gnome, and in that case there is Kubuntu. But there's different strokes for different folks.
