Like many post, just let me restate that I am new to the linux field. Yes i have successfully done setup a daul boot windows & Linux box, but that small cookies. I want to pratice using linux more. I'm bored with the windows interface and want a challenge. I obtain Mandrake 10.1 distro and would like to configure it to access the internet.

Does anyone have information on what books or website i can look into for help. Also i wouldl like to take a unix course. Should i, and how important is UNIX to the IT field?

I'm open to all suggestions and replys.

O ya, and get rid of that Mandrake stuff. The best thing for challenging the linux operating system with a familiar environment to land on is Ubuntu.

A really good (and free) book for starters, is lnag . Also what has become sort of the Official-unofficial documentation site for linux, is TLDP.org .

If you find any obstacles during your setup, we'll be glad to help :)
