Aerogel is some bad ass stuff. I've played around with it before and basically it's an insane insulator. To give you an idea high end insulators have an R value of about 3-5 per square inch where sealed aerogel insulation provides an R value of about 50 per square inch. To give you an idea of how powerful that is if you were to insulate your house in this stuff you would not need to heat your house in the winter as your body heat would keep you sweating. In fact you may have to open a window every once and a while.
