Okay, so its not everyday that I go absolutely flipped out crazy about an application.. but I've just got hold of one that is such a killer I just had to write about it ! The application in question is
Float's Mobile Agent
and what it does is manage everything on your cell phone via bluetooth or USB. Not just that, I can use my cell as a remote control for my PC -- controlling Winamp, browsing files, and yes, even moving the mouse !
Some of you might know that I'm a Sony Ericsson maniac.. I have a Sony Ericsson T630 that I just cannot live without. Plus I have a little bluetooth dongle that allows my cell and my PC talk to each other in a 100 meter radius.
Anyway, so I use Float's Mobile Agent to connect to the T630, in its awesome interface it downloads my contacts, shows my my calls, battery life, everything (I put the cell away to charge on the other end of the room when I come home). Now, from at my PC, I can answer / make calls... send and recieve my SMS's (typing them with my keyboard). I can completely control my phone, since it has a camera, I can just press a key on my keyboard, and wherever my phone is, it will take a picture and transfer the image to my PC !! Its like having a remote wireless webcam.
However the absolutely most incredible thing is that FMA adds a new menu to my phone when its connected.. from here, I can actually control *ANYTHING* on the PC right from the cell ! I can start my Winamp, view and search the playlists (yes I can see the song names on the fone !), lower / raise volume, blah blah...
THEN I discovered I can even control my mouse !! Using the up,down, left, right on the fone, I can move the mouse around perfectly, and click / right click on anything.. there is even a built in file manager so I can see my files listed on the cell, if I click one, it opens on the PC.
I use the remote control stuff mostly for Winamp and watching movies, its 1000 times better than a remote because I don't need to have line-of-site.
Oh yeah, I just remembered another cool feature.. I can tell FMA that if I move away from the PC, to lock the screen, lower the volume etc (it knows if I'm further away by the strength of the bluetooth connection).
I really wanted to post screenshots, but I don't have the time right now, I suggest you guys head on over to the link and check them out there.. if your phone has bluetooth, believe me, spend the ridiculously small amount for a bluetooth dongle or USB cable and your life will never be the same again.
This is the most killer app I've seen since I first saw ICQ long long ago...

I believe in this project so much that I just donated money to the development...
Isn't it funny that you pay for good software... even though its free.. so you don't actually have to pay for it

Hey i did not know that it worked on a T630 as well. I thought that it was exclusively for my T610.
And i had not even updated it for over 3 months so had no clue about new menu appearing in the phone and the remote control stuff.I just hope i get all the features via infrared as well else i'll have to shell out 1000 bucks for a dongle
Thankx a lot sahir

Levi's just lost business of Rs 1000/- for this month ,thanx to FMA .I set up my bluetooth connection today. However as this is the first time i am at it ,i am facing few difficulties ,but managed to get it working.
The best part is that i can run FMA and connect to the internet over GPRS simultaneously which was not possible with infrared.I do hope to see more applications being supported in the future.
T6*0 phones from sony are the best buy for their price.
