A wireless device connects to an AP based on the ssid . After a successful connection when you roam from around and the signal strength decreases , it will check if it finds an other AP which is configured in a mobility domain.If a client roams from an AP to another AP, here's the scenario:
client A is connected to AP 1 and is moving out of range...the client finds an other AP 2 with a higher signal strength. It sends an association message to AP 2 and a de association message to AP 1 however re-authentication doesn't happen.This is how roaming works.
Signal strength determines the perfect connectivity to the AP....and use ur NIC to full power if you find a drop in signal............
