This should be an easy question...is Alpha architecture for mac hardware? And if not what is the name for mac hardware architecture?

Yes you got it right! The MAC is based on the PPC architecture although Apple is now moving over to Intel. The Alpha architecture was introduced by Digital (now part of Compaq) and is no longer being actively developed. There was actually a version of Windows NT for the Alpha. Of course it also runs Linux/Unix.

Very intersting stuff.
So once MAC starts using an intel chip would you need x86 (or maybe x86_64) versions of linux?
