PC Hardware

Hey all,
Does anyone know of any software that is not os dependant (something like a boot disk) that displays the pc's hardware (cpu, memory, cards etc.) and has the ability to save to a file? I can do it manually but with something like this it will take me less time

Sorry can't help with the OS independent part. But one that runs on windows is Belarc found at www.belarc.com/free_download.html
